Each year the President of the United States of America proclaims the month of May as Asian/Pacific American Heritage Month. In honor of this celebration, the Asian American Heritage Committee of the Federal Executive Board of Pittsburgh presents awards to Outstanding Asian American Students.
Criteria for selection are based on scholastic achievement, extra curricular activities, and community services. Students in the 11th or 12th grade who reside and attend schools in the counties of Allegheny, Beaver, Westmoreland, Washington and Butler are eligible.
Each ethnic group may select up to three finalists. The Federal Executive Board of Pittsburgh chooses one highest honor award and two honor awardess from each group. Each student is judged based on his/her own achievements. There is no comparison among other students from ethnic groups.
The Federal Executive Board of Pittsburgh recognizes Raul Evangelista, the chairperson of the FAAP's Award and Scholarship Commitee, as the representative for the Filipino ethnic group. For more details, please download the application form here. Eligible students with Filipino ancestry must submit their applications to Raul Evangelista on or before the due date. His mailing address is indicated on the application form.
