FAAP Privacy and Website Use Policy

This site is owned and operated by the Filipino American Association of Pittsburgh, Inc. (FAAP) The FAAP is the sole owner of the information collected on this site. FAAP reserves all copyrights to information contained in this Website. We will not sell, share, or rent this information to others in ways different from what is disclosed in this statement. The following are our policies with respect to the following aspects of our web site:
1. Electronic newsletters policy
We plan to offer an electronic newsletter to members. The FAAP gathers the email addresses of members who voluntarily provide the same to us for this purpose. Members can remove or update their emails for this purpose with the membership committee at any time. We will never share this information with any outside entity for any reason, however, occasionally, we may provide email addresses to the various committees of the FAAP Board for purposes and activities directly related to membership and events.
2. Other electronic information
If you visit our site to read or download information, we collect and store the following information about your visit:
- The name of the Internet domain and the IP address (a number that is automatically assigned to your computer when you are using the Internet) from which you access our site;
- The type of browser and operating system used to access our site;
- The date and time you access our site;
- The Internet address of the Website from which you linked directly to our site;
- The pages you visit and the information you request.
This information is primarily collected for statistical analysis and technical improvements to the site. This is done by our service provider to create summary statistics, which may be used for such purposes as assessing what information is of most and least interest, determining technical design specifications, and identifying system performance or problem areas. We will never disclose this information to any outside entity, but may share it with the FAAP Board and officers.
3. Private responsive information
If you choose to provide us with personal information, such as by sending an e-mail or by filling out a form and submitting it through our Website, we will use that information to respond to your message or to fulfill the stated purpose of the communication. Remember that e-mail is not necessarily secure against interception. If you communication is sensitive or includes personal information you may prefer to send it by postal mail instead, or you can call the noted committee member, FAAP Director or officer as necessary. We also will not knowingly share this information with any entity outside the FAAP. ALTHOUGH THE FAAP WILL USE ALL REASONABLE EFFORTS TO SAFEGUARD THE CONFIDENTIALITY OF INFORMATION, TRANSMISSIONS MADE BY MEANS OF THE INTERNET CANNOT BE MADE ABSOLUTELY SECURE. FAAP SHALL HAVE NO LIABILITY FOR DISCLOSURE OR ACCESS TO INFORMATION DUE TO ERRORS IN TRANSMISSION, UNAUTHORIZED ACCESS, OR OTHER ACTS OF THIRD PARTIES.
4. Minors
Consistent with but even more stringent than the Federal Children's Online Privacy Protection Act of 1998, we will never knowingly request personally identifiable information from anyone under the age of 18 without requesting parental consent. We also will not publish the image of any child on this website without express written consent or their parent or guardian. If there are two parents who have joint or split legal custody of the minor, we will only do so with express written consent from both custodial parents. If technically possible, we will not allow anyone to download or otherwise obtain pictures of minors form our website.
5. Consent and any changes in this policy
By using this site, you consent to the collection and use of this information by FAAP and to the following restrictions. If we decide to change our privacy policy, we will post those changes on this page so that you are always aware of what information we collect, how we use it, and under what circumstances we disclose it.
6. Restricted Usage
We can limit, block or terminate your access to this website as needed and desired solely as determined by the FAAP Board of Directors. However, in connection with your use of FAAP Website, you will not:
- Post, transmit, or promote any unlawful, harmful, threatening, abusive, harassing, defamatory, vulgar, obscene, hateful, racially, ethnically or otherwise objectionable content
- Harass, threaten, embarrass, or cause distress, unwanted attention or discomfort upon another user of the Website or other person or entity
- Impersonate any person or entity, including but not limited to, an FAAP, or falsely state or otherwise misrepresent your affiliation with a person or entity or the FAAP.
- Modify, copy, distribute, transmit, display, perform, reproduce, publish, license, create derivative works from, transfer, or sell any information, software, products or services obtained from the FAAP website.
- Distribute, modify, transmit, post, or otherwise use the information, content or services on the Website for public or commercial purposes without the FAAP Board of Director's written permission by adopted resolution.
- " If you have a member password allowing access to a non-public area of FAAP, disclosing to or sharing your password with any third party or using your password for any unauthorized purpose, including attempting to gain unauthorized access.
